Malaysia & Borneo

Malaysia & Borneo

January, one of the coldest and grayest weekends of the year. Take refuge at home, all that remains is to take over the sofa and look for yet another TV series to kill time. When the search results do not return anything acceptable, you move on to scrolling your mobile phone.
A typical and now consolidated scheme of this century, which, if used well, suggests great ideas for planning the next trip. The eyes see something new, the finger on the display stops its mechanical work, and the brain deposits release a good dose of dopamine.
This is more or less what happened when we saw Sipadan, a small remote island in the west of Malaysian Borneo, located in an area rich in marine biodiversity.
To make sure we don't miss anything, we have included the Sandakan natural area and its wildlife conservation centers, which try to mitigate the phenomenon of deforestation and excessive urbanization in Borneo.
Finally, before returning to Italy, we stopped in the cosmopolitan capital Kuala Lumpur, where a jungle of increasingly energy-efficient ultra-modern skyscrapers coexists with many city parks and growing sustainable mobility.

That scroll on that Saturday in January would have created the conditions for a journey from the natural jungle to the urban one, discovering another small portion of Asia.
