The area of the artificial lake of Brugneto, the main water reserve of the city of Genoa as well as an important resource for agricultural activities in the Piacenza area, is dotted with small residential areas from which to start a trip to the Antola natural park.

The convenient car park is located near a former hotel, bar and restaurant, strategic for tourists who passed through these parts and wanted to have a meal with typical dishes from the hinterland, so we hope that it can be reopened.

Keeping the hotel behind you, turn right and continue on the asphalt, up to the point where the road ends which turns into a mule track.

Here, instead of taking the mule track for the classic Caprile ring, take the path on the right which descends slightly, bends to the right and passes through land intended for cattle breeding, north-east of the small village rural area, which is partially repopulated thanks to second holiday homes.

The route continues among ancient abandoned bundles and scented laburnums, until you come across a small sign indicating to turn right and return to Caprile: right here you need to deviate to the left and try with a little inventiveness to go up the slope, following a slight trace of what was once a path.

This is the part where it is easier to get lost, but if you follow the "Pianelli lake" on Google maps (coordinates 44.583653, 9.188274) you will soon find yourself on an agricultural-forestry-pastoral road that bends in a U (coordinates 44.584098, 9.196603) and crosses the asphalt road that joins provincial road 16, reaching Casa del Romano.

After all this journey it is worth having lunch, and Casa del Romano with its restaurant lends itself very well to the case.

Then continue on the path behind the accommodation facility, passing the famous astronomical observatory of the park which organizes very interesting activities for adults and children .

In the meadows surrounding the observatory, if you are lucky, you will be able to photograph an endless expanse of wild asphodels and daffodils, without anything to envy the famous Cavalla meadows of the municipality of Fascia.

The route continues on the ridge path that leads to the summit of Mount Antola, but once you reach the Tre Croci pass (where there are 3 ancient wooden crosses placed in memory of three people who died in a storm) you turn left where the steep descent to close the ring, passing from the beech forest to the now uncultivated sections located north-west of Caprile.

This last very suggestive area will lead you to the small residential area and then to the car park.
